Prensa reports that Kenneth Darlington, who is charged with the murder of two people last Tuesday at a street closure in Chame, was transferred to Santiago Barraza polyclinic, La Chorrera, to treat health conditions.
Eliécer Pliscett, a lawyer for relatives of one of the victims in the incident, confirmed that the accused was treated by the doctors for a minor impact - which he did not specify - and that he was then returned to the police headquarters where he remains until he was placed under the orders of the Prison System.
Pliscett said that the appeals hearing requested by the Darlington defence will be held next Wednesday, November 15, in the High Court of Appeal, located in Conquistador Square. He will request to maintain the pretrial detention of the accused for the seriousness of the charges and for the risk posed by the accused to the community.
Darlington faces charges of manslaughter and illegal possession of firearms, which can carry a penalty of up to 50 years in prison.
