The airline Copa Airlines announced that Starlink’s high-speed satellite internet service was added to its aircraft and became Latin American’s first airline to offer this technology to its passengers.
The first flight equipped with the system was performed last 4th of July, leading to a gradual implementation process throughout the fleet.
The company reported that the installation of the service will advance progressively and expects to be completed during the first quarter of 2027.
With this technology, passengers will have high-speed internet access throughout the flight to conduct video streaming, use cloud work applications, navigate real-time, send messages and access to other online services.
According to Diana Mizrachi-Kopel, senior manager of Copa Airlines Customer Experience, the initiative aims to meet new passenger connectivity needs and strengthen travel experience.
Access to the service will be free for the members PreferMember Gold, Platinum and Presidential ConnectMiles program as well as for Executive Class passengers and customers of the Starlink Residential and Starlink Roam plans.
The rest of the passengers can purchase the service while flying through the Starlink Access Portal with prices defined by the supplier.
